Celtic player admits he is hoping for contract extension

There are a lot of players at Celtic right now who might not end up having a long-term future at Parkhead. Several of them are out of the first-team picture right now while others are out on loan. And it will be very interesting to see what the future holds for them in the summer. One thing that is for sure though is that expect the squad to undergo some tweaking.

One player who has not been a part of Celtic’s first-team picture at any point of time since arriving at the club a few years back is Jonathan Afolabi.

He did come in with a lot of expectations and had been highly-rated during his time in the youth ranks at Southampton but it just has not worked out for him since then. He has spent time out on loan at multiple clubs but has not been able to find his best anywhere.

He did put in a brilliant performance for Airdrieonians though in order to keep their hopes of promotion alive. And as reported by the Daily Record, he appeared to admit that he is hoping for an extension with Celtic, as the youngster said:

“Celtic haven’t said anything yet, but they have the option to extend it next season.

“Hopefully moments like this can help that, that’s the only thing I can say at the moment.”

Afolabi admits that he is hoping for an extension with Celtic

Afolabi has not been able to make his mark at Celtic till now but his performance for Airdrieonians was certainly promising, as he both scored and assisted in a 6-4 win for the team in what was a must win game for them.

Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Afolabi and whether he ends up getting the extension that he is looking for at Celtic.
