Celtic will have the chance to virtually win the Scottish Premiership title, when they take to the field against Hearts, this weekend at Parkhead. The Hoops are leading the title race by 6 points with just 3 more league games left to be played and on top of that, they are also 19 goals ahead of the Rangers on goal difference. Thus, while not mathematically, the Hoops would be realistically crowned Champions of Scotland if they can get all three points against Robbie Neilson’s side.
Of course, that is easier said than done. Hearts are enjoying a tremendous season, especially considering the fact that they have come up from the Championship. Neilson’s side will finish the campaign comfortably in third and have reached the Scottish Cup final as well, where they will face the Rangers.
Thus, it is safe to say that they are a very good team and Celtic cannot look past them by any stretch of the imagination.
On top of that, Hearts have been handed a huge boost heading into the game against Celtic as Neilson has confirmed that John Souttar, Cammy Devlin and Michael Smith are back in full training and will be in the squad to face the Hoops. Jamie Borthwick tweeted out:
Hearts handed triple injury boost before facing Celtic at Parkhead
It is safe to say that Celtic cannot afford to look towards what is happening with Hearts and should be prepared to face the best version of them at Parkhead. That would be the right way to go about things.
A draw or a defeat against Neilson’s side would throw a huge twist in the title race and would put some pressure on Postecoglou’s side even though they are very much in the driver’s seat in the title race at the moment.
After the game against Hearts, Celtic have an away trip to deal with to face Dundee United, before they will finish off the season at Parkhead with a game against Motherwell. Four points from these three games would put the title race beyond any doubt.
