Celtic player confirms he will be leaving this summer

Celtic have undergone massive changes over the course of this campaign. Ange Postecoglou arrived as the manager and has made a huge impact on the club. On the other hand, several players departed Parkhead while many were brought in, seventeen over the previous two transfer windows, as the squad underwent a massive overhaul following the disastrous 2020/21 campaign.

This summer is expected to be a relatively quieter one for the Hoops. The squad is much more settled now and unless they undergo a late season collapse, they are well on their way to a League Cup-Premiership double. Not many would have expected that at the start of the campaign.

That does not mean that there won’t be changes made to the squad though. And one player has already confirmed that he will be leaving.

Brody Paterson has been at Celtic since he was 12 years of age. He is currently on loan at Airdrieonians and the 21-year-old has confirmed that he will be departing Parkhead in the summer when his contract runs out. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

“My contract is up with Celtic in the summer and I will be leaving.

“I am looking forward to a new challenge, one I can learn from and can give me a platform to take my career forward.”

Paterson set to leave Celtic in the summer

Now, one would not have expected Paterson to be a regular feature in the Celtic first-team in the near future even if he remained at the club. Thus, a move away might be the right move for the youngster.

But at the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that Celtic’s recent record of bringing through youngsters into the first-team has not been great and it has not been helped by the fact that a number of them have left for other clubs around Europe.
