Rangers star’s pre-match Celtic comments go viral

Celtic would have come into the game knowing that anything other than a defeat was a positive result for them and their Premiership title chances, and they were able to get that with a 1-1 draw against the Rangers. On the other hand, the Ibrox side will know that their title hopes are hanging by a thread and depend on what other teams manage to do against Ange Postecoglou’s side over the next three games.

The Glasgow Derby draw means that Celtic hold on to their 6-point lead over the Rangers, who have also lost their last chance to have a direct impact on the title race.

While the second half performance would have given Postecoglou a lot to think about, overall, he should be pleased to get out of this game with a draw. If they had taken their chances in the first half, the match could have been put to bed before the break itself.

But on the other hand, the Rangers had their fair share of late chances to clinch all three points and open up the title race again but could not take them. And in the aftermath of the game, some of John Lundstram’s pre-match comments have gone viral.

Lundstram’s pre-match comments go viral as Celtic draw vs Rangers

Lundstram claimed before the match that the pressure was on Celtic, how the Ibrox side had gotten better over the season and did not rule out the Rangers’ chances of getting things tighter. That they have not been able to do, managing only a draw. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the player had told Sky Sports ahead of the Glasgow Derby:

“We’ve got better as the season’s gone on. There’s a lot of pressure on Celtic now to take the league but with pressure comes expectation. Now it’s on them to finish strongly.

“We’ve seen stranger things happen in football than us getting it tighter. So no, listen, the pressure is on them. Let’s see what happens.”

Celtic might be comfortably in the driver’s seat when it comes to the title race right now but there is work still to be done before we can celebrate out 10th league in 11 seasons.

The Hoops face Hearts next at home, before an away trip to Dundee United and then end the season at Parkhead against Motherwell. They need just four more points to put the title race and hopefully they will get them as soon as possible.
