Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s brutally honest admission after Celtic draw

It turned out to be a tight affair between Celtic and the Rangers with the Premiership title up for grabs as one would have expected. The Hoops dominated early on and could have put the game to bed in the first 45 minutes itself, if they had taken their chances. On the other hand, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side finished the stronger of the two and will feel that they could have clinched all three points towards the end.

Ultimately, a draw is a very decent result for Celtic, who still lead the Premiership by 6 points and with a significantly better goal difference than the Rangers, realistically need just one more win from the last three league games to seal the title.

Van Bronckhorst and his team would have come into the game knowing that, and now have a mountain to climb, with their only hope being that Celtic slip up three consecutive times.

The Rangers manager has admitted to the difficulty that his side face after this result. As reported by the Daily Record, Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports:

“Of course, only a win today would give us a chance to close the gap even more, it’s still six points with the goal difference in favour of Celtic.

“It will be more difficult after today.”

Celtic are firmly in the driver’s seat after draw against Rangers

This was the Rangers’ last chance to have a direct impact on Celtic’s campaign. Now, they are left looking at the results of other games and even win all three of their remaining ones might not be enough to take this title race to the wire.

The only thing Celtic need to do moving forward is avoid a complete late season collapse. The only two scenarios where the Rangers can get back into this title race is if the Hoops fail to get three points from their remaining games or if they get exactly three but Van Bronckhorst’s side win their remaining games by gigantic margins.

Of course, anything can happen in football and Celtic cannot afford to rest on their laurels. Postecoglou’s side need four more points to mathematically clinch the title and hopefully, they will get it.
