Celtic can sign Ola Solbakken for incredible bargain fee

Celtic have been linked with a wide number of players over the course of the past few weeks as we approach the summer transfer window. This one is expected to be much calmer than the previous one, when the Hoops ended up signing twelve players, ten on a permanent basis and two on loan. On the other hand, key stars like Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Ryan Christie left the club.

The squad has settled a lot since then, as Ange Postecoglou has managed to guide them to the top of the Premiership table. With four games to go, they have a six point lead over the Rangers, although there is still one more Glasgow Derby to take care of, which could prove to be very vital.

One area of the squad that might end up needing reinforcements though is on the wings, with Jota’s future up in the air. It is very possible that the Portuguese winger could end up returning to his boyhood club, Benfica, when his season-long loan with Celtic comes to an end.

In that scenario, Celtic will need to sign a replacement and one very interesting player that they have been linked with is Bodo/Glimt’s Ola Solbakken. And the Hoops might even have the chance to pull off a bargain in the summer.

Celtic can sign Ola Solbakken for incredible bargain fee

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Solbakken could be available for a €2 million transfer fee. His current deal with Bodo/Glimt is believed to run out at the end of this year.

That would be an absolute bargain for a player of his potential. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Solbakken has scored 17 goals and provided 18 assists in 71 appearances for Bodo/Glimt till now. He is also just 23 years of age and would be expected to get even better moving forward.

Postecoglou will know very well what Solbakken is capable of, as Solbakken scored and assisted against Celtic in their UEFA Europa Conference League tie. He also scored three times against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma this season and has a goal against AZ Alkmaar as well.

Thus, Solbakken, who mostly plays as a right winger, is one to keep an eye on even if Jota ends up staying at Celtic, especially for a €2 million transfer fee. AS Roma are also believed to hold an interest in the Norwegian international though.
