Coming into the season, Celtic were not expected to even come close to challenge the Rangers for the Premiership title, after having finished 25 points behind them last time around and then having to undergo a major overhaul in the summer. And one of the biggest reasons that they have done so well till now is because of some of the fantastic signings that they have made since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.
While the likes of Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and others have grabbed most of the headlines, one new arrival who has gone a bit under the radar is Liel Abada.
Still just 20 years of age, Abada has been brilliant all things considered. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 appearances for Celtic this season.
And as a result, he has joined a prestigious list of Under 21 players in Europe, who have both scored and assisted 10 or more goals this season. As tweeted out by Football Talent Scout, the other names on the list are that of Vinicius Junior, Florian Wirtz, Joshua Zirkzee and Adam Hlozek.
Celtic’s Abada on list with the likes of Vini Jr and Wirtz
It is safe to say that those are some of the biggest talents in all of football right now and it just goes on to show how prolific Abada has been for a player of his age, since joining Celtic.
Yes, he might not be the finished article yet but the attributes are all there for Abada to be a key player for Celtic for years to come. Of course, that will be if he does not end up joining another club in the near future.
It will be very interesting to see where Abada fits into this team at this point of time. With the likes of Kyogo, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and Jota also in the squad, he has struggled to get consistent starts in recent times for the club.
