Celtic can pull off transfer masterstroke by signing Argentine

Celtic have made some tremendous signings over the course of the past few transfer windows, since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. Players like Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Joe Hart, Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis and several others, have proven to be excellent additions to this side and directly impacted the progress that they have made this season.

Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup and are leading the Scottish Premiership by six points, with five more games to go. But as their underwhelming European campaign and Scottish Cup exit at the hands of the Rangers showed, there is plenty of room for improvement for Postecoglou’s side.

One of them might be on the wings, especially if Jota is not signed on a permanent basis. And following his performances since the turn of the year, there are question marks over whether the Hoops should make that move or not.

One player that they should have an eye on is Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon, whose current deal is believed to be running out in the summer.

Why Pavon could be a brilliant signing for Celtic

In the past, Pavon has been linked with a £27 million move to Arsenal and after impressing on loan at LA Galaxy, he was believed to be closing in on a permanent transfer to the MLS club as well. But ultimately, a Boca Juniors exit has never materialised for him.

That is a bit of a surprise though. Pavon has been excellent for Boca Juniors for years now and even established himself as one of the most exciting players in the MLS while on loan at LA Galaxy. He was also one of the shining lights for the Argentina national team during the 2018 World Cup.

To be very honest, it is a bit of a mystery why Pavon has not gotten his big move till now because on his day, he is an excellent player.

Capable of playing on both the wings, Pavon is just the type of player that Celtic might need right now with question marks over the futures of Jota, Mikey Johnston and James Forrest. He could be a pretty good fit in Postecoglou’s system as well. While there have not been any rumours linking the club with the Argentine, he is someone who they would do well to keep an eye on.
