Celtic’s performance against St Johnstone was arguably the best of their season, as they got a huge 7-0 win on the day. As a result, with just five league games left to be played, they have a six point lead over the Rangers and a huge advantage when it comes to goal difference as well. Thus, while there is a lot of work still to be done, Ange Postecoglou’s side have to be considered as the favourites at this point of time.

One interesting thing that happened in the game against St Johnstone was that Tom Rogic was brought off at half-time, with Matt O’Riley taking his place.

O’Riley did a fantastic job as well, scoring a couple of wonderful goals after coming on. But, some fans must have been wondering if Rogic had ended up picking up a knock during the game, because of which the manager made a precautionary change at the break.

That does not appear to be the case though and instead, it was only to get O’Riley some playing time. As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said about his decision:

“Tom is fine, it was just a decision of mine. He had done his work and I was pretty keen to get Matty some game time.

“It was a bit of a false start last week, coming on and then off.

“I am mindful of how hard all these guys are working and I want to give them opportunities in case we need them.”

It is safe to say that the decision paid off and O’Riley put his name into the hat for selection, heading into next weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-final against the Rangers.

Both Rogic and O’Riley appear to be in great form at the moment. The Australian was instrumental in Celtic’s win over the Rangers at Ibrox.

On the other hand, while O’Riley subbed on and then off, in the game against the Rangers, he more than made up for him against St Johnstone, by scoring a brace.

This is a great headache for Postecoglou to have, with two of Celtic’s key players in splendid form heading into the Glasgow Derby.
