Celtic player has forced fans to make major U-turn

Another Celtic player is now turning fans’ heads with much improved performances, especially so in the vital 2-1 win at Ibrox against the Rangers. This has been the story of quite a few since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. The supporters have already been appreciating the way Anthony Ralston has stepped up this season, at right-back.

And now we’re maybe seeing less concern over who should be first choice left-back as well, with Greg Taylor getting some much deserved plaudits.

Taylor hasn’t always impressed over the years and there has been a lot of debate over the left-back position at the club. At times in the past, it seemed that he wasn’t a particularly strong defender and although he would find good advanced positions down the left flank, his distribution and final balls from there often disappointed as well.

But since his return from injury, Taylor has shown what he is capable of and his terrific display at Ibrox against the Rangers is a perfect example of that. He shined on the afternoon, especially defensively.

Taylor was excellent in Celtic’s win over the Rangers

Perhaps we’ve overlooked at times that Taylor is still only 24 years of age and still gaining experience at the senior level.

His performance against the Rangers certainly won some fans over. And they made their appreciation known on Twitter:

That should help boost Taylor’s confidence as he and the rest of the squad turn their focus to Saturday and a home match against St Johnstone. The left-back did limp off at Ibrox at the weekend, but it has already been confirmed as cramp. That is great news for Celtic and their title hopes.

Taylor may well have some added motivation as well with Kieran Tierney’s injury ruling him out of the Scotland national team’s World Cup qualifiers.
