Celtic ready to let summer signing leave next season

As the Celtic squad continues its remarkable transformation under the management of Ange Postecoglou it is inevitable that we’ll see some players be allowed to leave the club. Not many would have expected one of their signings from the past summer transfer window to be linked with a Parkhead exit already though.

Osaze Urhoghide is the player in question. He arrived last summer from Sheffield Wednesday and had played a fair bit of football in the Championship last season.

Although he arrived at Parkhead after Postecoglou, it’s fair to say that he was most likely a player that the club had already had in their sights before the appointment. Other than some pre-season matches, opportunities were limited for the youngster, although Urhoghide did take the chance to impress, when called into the line up against Real Betis in the Europa League.

A loan to Belgian club, KV Oostende, in January provided a fresh opportunity and although there was a lot of talk of gaining experience and returning to Celtic, an option to buy was included in the deal.

Celtic are ready to let Urhoghide leave

As reported by Football Insider , Celtic expect Urhoghide to join a new club next season and he is likely to be on the move again in the summer. If a deal cannot be agreed with KV Oostende, then he is likely to head elsewhere.

The rationale seems to be that Postecoglou has a lot of defensive options available to him now, something that could not be said when Urhoghide was signed.

Urhoghide appears to have settled in well at KV Oostende and is getting decent game time there. It remains to be seen if the Belgian club do decide to make a permanent move for him though.

Of course, many will remember how Jack Hendry had joined the same club. Now, let’s see what the future holds for Urhoghide.
