Celtic have told player to find a new club in the summer

As Ange Postecoglou gets closer to having almost a full Celtic squad to select from, there are rumours that one player has been told to find a new club ahead of the summer transfer window. It is no surprise really that we are getting closer to seeing the Greek international depart Parkhead. He had failed to make the impact that was expected last season and has barely gotten minutes on the pitch this time around.

In fact, one would have expected him to depart the club earlier but that did not transpire. There were rumours of offers from clubs like Sheffield United and IFK Goteborg, but neither of them ended up taking place.

Barkas has never quite been able to nail down his spot between the posts for Celtic and it is safe to say that he has not been able to match the expectations that were there when he moved from AEK Athens in a £4.5 million transfer move.

And now, it looks like his time at Parkhead might be coming to an end in the very near future.

Barkas could be on his way out Celtic soon and has been told to find a new club

As reported by Football Insider, a Celtic source has claimed that Barkas has been told by the Hoops that he is free to find a new club ahead of the summer.

With Joe Hart firmly in place as the No 1 keeper at Celtic right now and Scott Bain as back up, it seems as though the plan is to develop the exciting talent of Tobi Oluwayemi to come through the ranks over the next few years.

That leaves very little scope for Barkas to get playing time at Celtic at this point of time and as a result, a move away might be the best decision for both the club and the player.
