One Celtic star has proven the fans wrong this season

Celtic made several additions to their squad in the summer as part of a major overhaul. Ten arrived on a permanent basis and two on loan, as Ange Postecoglou looked to bring the club back on track following a very disappointing 2020/21 campaign, that had seen the Hoops finish an incredible 25 points behind the Rangers and without a single piece of silverware. Thus, they needed a fresh start and arguably, so many new faces coming in probably helped the club.

These new signings also deserve a lot of credit for how quickly they adjusted to their new surroundings and teammates. Players like Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and more came in, and established themselves as some of the best players at Parkhead.

But then, some endured slow starts as well. One such player was Giorgos Giakoumakis, who had been the top scorer in the Eredivisie last season but found it tough to get it going at Celtic.

He struggled with both form and fitness, and as a result, after not making much of a mark on the first-team in the first half of the season, most fans had written the Greek striker off. Oh, how wrong were they to do so!

Giakoumakis has proven Celtic fans wrong

Giakoumakis has enjoyed a great time in the Celtic first-team following the winter break and has arguably been the club’s best player in the second half of the season.

That is quite a drastic turnaround for a player, who seemed destined to spend his time at Parkhead sitting on the bench before eventually heading out somewhere else in the not too distant future.

That has not been the case though, as Giakoumakis has found the back of the net consistently in recent weeks and as of now, he looks like the best striker that Celtic have, with Kyogo out injured.
