Postecoglou explains why he didn’t bring own coaching team to Celtic

Celtic had been linked heavily with a move for Eddie Howe in the summer for months. After their failed 2020/21 campaign, it was seen as the arrival that would help them return to the top of Scottish football once again. But ultimately, the club were not able to appoint the former Bournemouth manager. Instead, they ended up bringing in Ange Postecoglou from Yokohama F. Marinos.

It is safe to say that not many Celtic fans were impressed with Postecoglou’s appointment. Despite the manager’s considerable success in both Australia and Japan, he was an unknown in European football.

It is safe to say that less than a year on and Postecoglou is one of the most popular Celtic managers in recent memory. The Hoops have already won the Scottish League Cup and are competing for the Premiership title, sitting three points ahead of the Rangers.

Thus, it is safe to say that Postecoglou has done a tremendous job till now, especially under the circumstances that he arrived and the manager deserves incredible credit for that.

Postecoglou explains why he did not bring in coaching team to Celtic with it

One of the most controversial things surrounding Postecoglou’s move to Celtic was that he did not bring in his own coaching staff. Now, the manager has explained the decision. As reported by Glasgow Times, the manager told Open Goal:

“I haven’t done it my whole career. Everywhere I’ve gone I’ve always worked with different people or taken new people, not people I’ve worked with before.

“It just depends on your personality. My thing is that I enjoy the challenge of convincing people to my way of playing the game.”

Postecoglou has come in and worked with the coaching team that was already in place at Celtic Park. And it is safe to say that after how the 2020/21 campaign turned out to be, they were not very popular figures amongst the club’s fans.

But it is safe to say that the club have not had problems with the coaching staff under the management of Postecoglou. Of course, it helps that they have been winning consistently.
