Struggling Celtic star looks set to leave in the summer

Celtic’s squad has undergone an incredible transformation since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager. The Hoops signed twelve players in the summer transfer window, with ten arriving on a permanent basis and two on loan with an option to buy included in the deals. And in January, there were five more arrivals. Thus, this is a very different squad to the one which had finished 25 points behind the Rangers last season.

And we have seen tremendous improvement from Celtic through the course of the campaign and as of now, they sit three points ahead of the Rangers in the Premiership and have already won the Scottish League Cup.

That does not mean that there is not any room for improvement left though. On the contrary, a lot of changes can be made to this squad.

One of those changes involves letting someone like Vasilis Barkas go, as he has not been able to make an impact on the first-team for a long time. And as tweeted out by Giannis Chorianopoulos, it looks like the goalkeeper will leave in the summer and his side are checking options from now:

Barkas looks set to leave Celtic after failing to make an impact

When Celtic signed Barkas from AEK Athens for a transfer fee believed to be around £4.5 million, many believed that they were bringing in a player who would be a regular between the posts at Parkhead for at least the next half-a-decade.

Things have not gone as expected though. Barkas has failed to make an impact and a move away from Parkhead looks like the best option for both the club and the player at this point of time.

When Postecoglou had arrived, there were hopes that Barkas could establish himself in the first-team. But after a few early season mistakes, Joe Hart was brought in from Tottenham Hotspur and he has been the first-choice goalkeeper since then.
