Celtic appear to have one key problem at the moment

Celtic have appeared to have lost quite a bit of momentum in their recent games. And at a club like this, even one bad or even average result, is magnified ten-folds, especially when a title race is on with the Rangers. That is exactly how the aftermath of the 0-0 draw against Hibernian turned out to be for the Hoops. It was the first time that they had dropped points in a long time.

It did not feel like that was the case though. In fact, a scroll through social media would make one feel like we were back in the middle of the 2020/21 campaign, when Celtic were stumbling from one blow to another.

Of course, the 5-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Bodo/Glimt did not end up helping matters in this regard. But at the end of the day, Celtic remain three points clear off the Rangers in the league table still.

But then, that does not mean that they do not have their fair share of problems right now. And their biggest one is the fact that they have struggled to break opposition defences in recent games.

Celtic have struggled to break opposition defences

Celtic have been missing for Kyogo for a long time now and it looks like he will remain on the sidelines for a while yet. Of course, that is far from ideal, especially considering the fact that the club have had a tough time breaking through opposition defences.

Naturally, other clubs are sitting deep and putting more bodies behind the ball when they come up against Celtic.

With Kyogo’s off-the-charts movement and eye for goal, it is possible to get past that. Even someone like Giorgos Giakoumakis appears to be making a positive impact up top in the absence of the former Vissel Kobe star.

But the same cannot be said about Daizen Maeda, who is yet to settle into his new surroundings and team.

If Celtic are get back to their dominant best, they will need to find a way to break through opposition defensive lines though, even when the likes of Kyogo and Giakoumakis are not playing.
