Callum McGregor makes very worrying Celtic claim

Celtic fans must have breathed a sigh of relief when the Rangers let a 2-0 lead slip and ended up drawing 2-2 with Motherwell at Ibrox. The Hoops themselves had suffered a major blow earlier in the day when they played a goalless draw against Hibernian away at Easter Road. But as both Glasgow giants failed to win, the gap between the two in the Premiership table remains at three points.

Despite that, Ange Postecoglou must be worried about what he has seen from his team over the past several games.

Not only did they lose both games against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa Conference League, but they have also struggled to break teams down in domestic competitions. And with 10 league games still to be played, Celtic are starting to lose some of the momentum that they had built up.

Amidst all this, Callum McGregor has claimed that teams are changing the way they play when they come up against Celtic. That is a big worry because the Hoops are struggling to adjust to those changes at the moment. As reported by The Scotsman, the club captain said:

“I don’t think we need to come too far away from the structure the manager is asking us to do.

“There is, obviously, some fine-tuning in that. Can you move slightly differently? Pass it a bit quicker? But the reason teams are changing is because we have been so effective. We are now dominating games to the point where teams are completely changing their tactics against us.”

Celtic captain makes worrying claim about opponents

It is nothing new for teams to sit back against Celtic. It has happened throughout the years. But at the moment, they appear to be a bit more careful, especially at the start of games, because that is when Postecoglou’s side look to blow teams away.

And for the large part, teams have been successful in keeping them at bay or at least, claw their way back into games against Celtic, even if they fall behind the Hoops.

Just a few weeks ago, Celtic looked like a team who were in cruise control and were dominating games completely. That has change drastically in recent times and their last good performance was in the first half against Aberdeen.
