Chris Sutton’s perfect reaction to Celtic defeat vs Bodo/Glimt

Celtic suffered a very disappointing defeat at the hands of Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa Conference League. The visitors walked out of Parkhead with a huge 3-1 win and as a result, Ange Postecoglou’s side will have a mountain to climb when they travel to Norway for the second leg next week. While the tie might not be over yet, the Hoops’ chances of making it to the next round are hanging by a thread.

This was Celtic’s first defeat since November of last year. And while Bodo/Glimt are a great team in their own right, not many would have expected Postecoglou’s side to be defeated in such convincing manner after the run that they have been on.

It is understandable that the fans feel disappointed but there needs to be some context added to the result as well. Celtic are still without arguably their best player in Kyogo and every team can have an off-night.

Chris Sutton had the perfect reaction to the result as he tweeted out:

Sooner or later, Celtic’s undefeated run had to come to an end and Bodo/Glimt are a great side. They have a 6-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma from earlier in the season.

Also, it does feel like Postecoglou got his selection wrong on this occasion, while some of the players did not perform to the best of their ability.

Celtic will need to improve a lot in the second leg when they travel to Norway, to take on Bodo/Glimt in difficult conditions. But at the same time, it is clear in which areas the Hoops can improve. It is not like they were at the top of their game and were still outplayed. Thus, let’s if the club can make those adjustments and get something out of the second leg.
