Celtic stars may be unhappy as Postecoglou’s Tom Rogic plan revealed – expert

Alex McLeish has suggested some Celtic stars may be unhappy with Ange Postecoglou’s rotation policy this season.

The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted no player would be happy being taken out the starting XI off the back of a win.

As quoted by Football Scotland on Tuesday (8 February), Postecoglou revealed he plans to rotate regularly to keep his squad fit and firing.

He singled out midfield star Tom Rogic as someone who needs to be managed in order to keep his performance levels up.

However, McLeish insisted some players would be bitterly disappointed not to retain their starting spots after impressive displays.

“As far as I’m concerned, if a player’s taken out of a winning team then they’re never happy,” McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.

“They’re never happy and they shouldn’t be. At the same time, you have to respect the coaches, game management and his overall plan.

“If it’s working, and it clearly worked, then those guys can say: ‘Okay, I’m disappointed the coach didn’t play me in that game but he’s getting it right for the team. He’s getting it right for the club.’

“That penny will begin to drop for them as well. That’s when you realise you could be on the verge of something big. You have to be thinking as a team man and not about yourself.

Postecoglou made three changes to the side who beat Rangers against Motherwell and two for Wednesday night’s win over Aberdeen.

Derby day star Josip Juranovic was among those on the bench at Fir Park, while Rogic was dropped at Pittodrie despite netting twice against The Well.
