Celtic news: Pundit hails ‘brilliant news’ after Kyogo Furuhashi update

Frank McAvennie has hailed “brilliant news for Celtic” after the club’s Europa League squad was revealed.

The former Hoops hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on David Turnbull and Kyogo Furuhashi’s fitness.

On Tuesday (8 February) Ange Postecoglou confirmed Turnbull and Furuhashi had been included in their Europa League squad.

Both players are injured and the Hoops boss told Sky Sports their inclusion does not mean a return is imminent.

However, McAvennie has hailed the news as a boost for Celtic and hasn’t ruled out Postecoglou bending the truth with his injury update.

“The fact they have both been included, this is brilliant news for Celtic,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“They would not have been included if there was no chance of them playing.

“We know what Postecoglou is like as well, it’s all mind games He said there was no way McGregor would play in the Old Firm and he started.

“I’m not saying we will see these players next week or anything, I just think they might not be a million miles away.

“I would love a good run in Europe, we have the squad to do it now.

“Once our injured players return we will be even stronger as well. I can’t wait to see David and Kyogo back.

“They have both had brilliant seasons so far.”

Furuhashi has scored 16 goals in 26 games for Celtic this season.

Turnbull has also impressed, netting nine times in 34 games.
