3 things we learned from Celtic vs Rangers: Hatate, Angeball and more

It was not just a win but a statement of intent from Celtic, when they handed the Rangers a 3-0 defeat at Parkhead with a brace from Reo Hatate and a strike from Liel Abada sealing the deal. The Hoops had shown a lot of progress since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s manager but the big question still remained – can they get it done against the Rangers?

We know the answer now. And they did it even with some key players missing due to injury, suspension, or being away on international duty recently, as was the case with Tom Rogic.

Celtic had a 3-0 lead going into the break and to be honest, it could have easily been 5 or 6. Postecoglou’s side completely blew the Rangers away in the first half of the game.

The second half performance was not nearly as good and the Hoops appeared to take a step back after the break, as they looked a bit tired. One can expect even bigger things though when more of their players are back available.

A brace and an assist on his Glasgow Derby debut. Hatate’s start to life at Celtic is going better than anybody would have expected.

Daizen Maeda might have been the headline signing of the January transfer window for Celtic but Hatate has been grabbing them since with his incredible performances.

What a player! Celtic appear to have pulled off another transfer masterstroke as Hatate scored two more brilliant goals and then set up Abada’s third at Parkhead on the night in one of the best Glasgow Derby debut performances ever.

He might have arrived at Celtic just a month ago, but Hatate already looks like an undroppable part of this Celtic team.
