Journalist reveals Celtic’s January Deadline Day plans

Celtic have had an incredibly eventful January transfer window for sure. The club have signed five players in the form of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Matt O’Riley and Johnny Kenny. On the other hand, quite a few players have been sent out on loan as well. Liam Shaw and Conor Hazard have joined Motherwell and HJK Helsinki on a temporary basis. Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on loan although that move is expected to be made permanent in the summer.

There could be more to come in that respect though as there are quite a few youngsters who have struggled for playing time at Celtic this season and could be benefited by loan spells away from the club.

Names like Osaze Urhoghide and Adam Montgomery come to mind immediately. While they have not played a lot of football for Celtic this season, they could very well be good enough to start regularly for some Scottish clubs.

On the other hand, in terms of incomings, one cannot expect much from Celtic, as they have already strengthened significantly. The Hoops have made it a habit to throw up a transfer surprise from time to time though.

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, he has been told not expect incomings, unless someone becomes available who is too good to miss out on. One could see some younger players or fringe players heading out though, most likely on loan.

In the summer, Celtic had had one of the most eventful transfer deadline days ever. This time around, one cannot expect that.

The club have done tremendously well to get deals over the line early on this month and can afford to sit back and relax as a result of it, while clubs around them scramble to get last-minute deals done.
