Celtic might be on a good run of results but it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s side. When they added five new players this month, they would have been hoping to put their availability issues behind them but unfortunately, that has not been the case. The likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull, Callum McGregor, Yosuke Ideguchi and quite a few others are out injured for the Hoops right now.

On top of that, they are missing Daizen Maeda and Tom Rogic as well, who are out on international duty for Japan and Australian respectively.

There is a slight chance though that they could potentially feature in the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers, as the duo are expected to arrive back in Glasgow on the day of the game.

It could be a very tight call and Postecoglou has shed some light on the exact situation. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told BBC Radio Scotland:

“Well I think they get back on the day of the game, irrespective of my desire to find a supersonic vehicle to get them here in record time.

“A lot of it will actually depend on whether they play or not. If they play the day before it’s impossible for them to play on the night against Rangers. But if they’re not involved there’s an opportunity to get them back.

“We’ll look at that later in the week.”

Celtic manager sheds light on Maeda and Rogic situation for the Glasgow Derby

It would without doubt be a huge boost for Celtic if Maeda and Rogic are available for the Glasgow Derby against the Rangers but it does feel very unlikely.

Rogic is expected to feature for the Australian national team after his incredible recent performances and it remains to be seen if Maeda does for Japan or not.

The Glasgow Derby could end up having huge implications on the Premiership title race this time around. With their 1-0 win over Dundee United, Celtic have cut the gap with the Rangers down to two points. Thus, a win on the day will send them to the top of the table, something not many would have expected when they had lost three of their first six league games this season.
