Rangers suffer massive injury blow before facing Celtic

Things have not been going Celtic’s way for a while now. When they signed five players in the January transfer window, in the form of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Matt O’Riley and Johnny Kenny, they would have been hoping that they would get some relief from their injury problems moving forward. That has not been the case though and the club could miss several key players in the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers.

Maeda and Tom Rogic will be away on international duty at that point of time. On the other hand, Kyogo and David Turnbull have been on the sidelines with injuries for a while. And on top of that, Callum McGregor, Ideguchi and Liel Abada were forced off the pitch in their recent Scottish Cup game against Alloa Athletic.

But it looks like the Rangers will have their own injury problems as well heading into the upcoming Glasgow Derby against Celtic.

As reported by BBC, Ianis Hagi will miss the rest of the season after undergoing an operation. He suffered a knee injury in the Rangers’ Scottish Cup game against Stirling Albion.

Hagi has not been brilliant for the Rangers but he has been a key player for them. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists in 27 appearances for the club this season.

Celtic have their own injury problems to worry about going into the game though while a couple of key players will be missing due to international duty as well.

Thus, it is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for Ange Postecoglou’s side. A lot could end up depending on the result of this Glasgow Derby though and it could end up having major implications on the Scottish Premiership title race.
