Another Celtic player closing in on Parkhead loan exit

While there has not been much to write home about permanent Celtic exits this month except for Lee O’Connor’s move to Tranmere Rovers, there have been quite a few loan moves. Liam Shaw has joined Motherwell on loan while Conor Hazard has joined HJK Helsinki on a temporary basis as well. Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on loan but in his case, the move is expected to be made permanent in the summer.

That might not be the end of it though as there are several other players who have struggled for regular playing time in Ange Postecoglou’s side and might be helped by a temporary spell away from Parkhead.

Adam Montgomery is someone who seems headed out of Celtic on loan as well, as the 19-year-old could do with some regular football at this stage of his career.

As reported by the Daily Record, Montgomery is set to join Kilmarnock on loan after Celtic approved the move.

Montgomery set to join Kilmarnock on loan from Celtic

Early on in the campaign, it had looked like Montgomery was set for a breakout season. He had found a place at left-back in Postecoglou’s starting XI for a while and put in some impressive displays there.

His form would soon fade away though and Montgomery has found himself out of the first-team picture for a while now.

As a result, a loan stint away from the club could massively benefit him. It might be easy to forget but Montgomery is still just 19 years of age and has plenty of time on his hands to develop before potentially becoming a Celtic regular one day.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Montgomery has made 18 appearances this season for Celtic and played 877 minutes in total, providing an assist along the way. Those are solid numbers considering that he is still a teenager.
