Celtic handed surprise Yosuke Ideguchi injury blow

While Celtic might have managed to get through to the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 2-1 win against Alloa Athletic, the League One definitely left their mark on the Glasgow giants. It was a rough game for sure and resulted in three of Ange Postecoglou’s players being forced off the pitch. And a few days on, things are not looking good for the Hoops at all.

Callum McGregor was expected to be the most significant one of the three and there have been many rumours which have suggested that the Celtic captain will have to undergo surgery.

But it looks like that Yosuke Ideguchi could be out of action for a while too after he was on the end of a very tough tackle against Alloa Athletic, which many believe was deserving of a red card.

Earlier, suggestions had been that Ideguchi had not suffered a serious problem, which was a huge boost for Celtic. But now, it looks like the situation is not what it had appeared to be early on and it is much more serious. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou told Celtic TV:

“He’s not great. I said after the game it didn’t look too serious but to be fair I didn’t really get a good look at him.

“It was a terrible tackle and one which should have been addressed by the referee on the day. He hasn’t come out of it too well and will be missing for a little bit as well. He’s still pretty painful now. The kind of character he is, for him to stay down and come off I knew it was significant.

“I was optimistic it wasn’t too bad but as everyone can see from the footage it was a tackle that shouldn’t have happened and should have been addressed on the day.”

Celtic handed huge Ideguchi injury blow

Ideguchi arrived at Celtic from Gamba Osaka just this month but already, it looks like the Hoops have been handed an injury blow surrounding the midfielder.

This is even more vital for the Hoops considering the number of players that they are already missing in the middle of the park.

McGregor looks set to be out with injury for a while. On the other hand, David Turnbull has already been on the sidelines for some time now and Tom Rogic will be going away on international duty. As a result, it appears that Postecoglou has been left scrambling for options once again, something that nobody would have expected after their January transfer window.
