Chris Sutton makes exciting Celtic Premiership title claim

January has proven to be a solid month for Celtic till now. Of course, they have added significant strength to their squad by signing Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi, Johnny Kenny and Matt O’Riley. Squad depth was their biggest problem in the first half of the campaign but the Hoops might have gone a long way in rectifying that issue now. On the other hand, the opening results went their way as well, as the Rangers dropped points and the gap now stands at four.

Of course, that is still a significant gap but with three Glasgow Derbies left to be played in the league, it can be easily overturned. With not much appearing to be between the two Scottish giants after a long time, the title race might end up going down to the wire.

And ultimately, the results of the upcoming Glasgow Derbies could end up playing a huge part in determining the destination of the Premiership trophy come the end of the season.

Chris Sutton’s recent claim will excite Celtic fans though. While speaking on BT Sport’s Scottish Football Extra and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said:

“Maeda [got] off the mark [after] what, 3 and a half minutes? 4 minutes?

“Incredible start to his Celtic career. A great start from him. Hatate, he was here and there, he was everywhere! A really impressive performance. And Celtic needed that win just to put the pressure on Rangers and their game at Aberdeen. And we all know what happened there…!

“But the key to Celtic really challenging Rangers was the new signings to hit the ground running.”

Sutton makes exciting claim about Celtic’s Premiership title challenge

Last season, Celtic had shockingly finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the Premiership title race. Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager though, things have certainly turned around for the club.

First he steadied the ship at Celtic and even managed to lift the Scottish League Cup along the way. Then he has added to his squad in January and might be ready to make a title charge in the second half of the season.

It is worth pointing out though that the club are still missing some key players and could be even better in the near future when everyone is available.
