Celtic got a 2-0 win and all three points against Hibernian at Parkhead. Goals from a debuting Daizen Maeda and Josip Juranovic were enough to get the job done on the night. Ange Postecoglou’s side produced one of their best performances in the first half of the game although it looked like they had taken their foot off the pedal a bit in the second half.
Overall though, Celtic appeared to be in control of the game throughout except for an early scare from Hibernian when they hit the post.
And it must be said that Celtic were nowhere near their strongest either, with Kyogo out of action with an injury, that looks set to keep him out for a few more weeks at least.
On the other hand, while Jota has recovered from his problem, he was only on the bench for this one, before coming on late in the game.
Celtic: 3 big positives Ange Postecoglou was handed vs Hibernian
Here are three big positives that Celtic and Ange Postecoglou were handed in their recent 2-0 win over Hibernian at Parkhead:
Daizen Maeda off the mark immediately
Maeda was the headline signing for Celtic in this January transfer window and he took less than 4 minutes to show why, by scoring his first goal in the Hoops and getting off the mark at Parkhead almost immediately.
Of course, just because he scored in his debut game does not mean that he will be a huge hit in Scottish football. We need to watch him for longer before giving a verdict on that but the start was as good as it gets and the signs are promising to say the least.
Maeda topped the J1 League scoring charts last season despite not being an out and out striker and it looks like he has brought his scoring boots with him to Glasgow as well.
