Celtic: 3 things to target next in the January transfer window

Celtic must be delighted with the start that they have made in the January transfer window, bringing in Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Johnny Kenny. Rumours have also suggested that the club have made a breakthrough in the race for Riley McGree and agreed a deal with Charlotte FC for the Australian international.

Most fans would have been content if they were told that the club would bring in five new players in January. But there have been suggestions the Hoops could be looking to do more this month.

This is a statement of intent from Celtic as it is pretty clear that they are looking to make a charge for the Scottish Premiership title in the second half of this campaign.

As things stand, they sit six points behind the Rangers but it is a lead that can be overturned, with almost half the season left to be played, including three Glasgow Derbies.

There are quite a few players at Celtic who have not been able to make a mark at Parkhead and it might be a good idea to find them new clubs this month.

This will free up space in the squad for the Hoops to bring in more signings. And in fact, they have already sent a couple of players out already. Liam Shaw has joined Motherwell on loan. On the other hand, Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian on loan till the end of the season although that will be made permanent after that.

Other names that come to mind when thinking about players Celtic should try to move on are that of Albian Ajeti and Vasilis Barkas, both of whom have been linked with moves away recently.
