Neil Lennon signing looks set for Celtic exit in January

A number of Celtic’s signings from Neil Lennon’s second stint as the manager of the club left a lot to be desired. Several of them failed to make their mark at Parkhead and have either already headed out of the club or could do so in the near future, after struggling for playing time. Another such player looks set for an exit in this current January transfer window, having not broken into Ange Postecoglou’s playing XI on a consistent basis.

Celtic have made an excellent start to their January transfer window by bringing in players like Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

One area that the club needed to improve in particularly was their midfield and the arrivals of Hatate and Ideguchi should go a long way in that regard. But consequently, it could mean less playing time for Ismaila Soro, who already has not gotten a lot of it in recent times.

Thus, a Parkhead exit might not be too far away in his future. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Soro will be allowed to leave this month, either on loan or on a permanent basis and the Celtic midfielder has emerged as a January target for New York Red Bulls.

Another Celtic player linked with New York Red Bulls

There are quite a few former Celtic players at New York Red Bulls already – Patryk Klimala, Lewis Morgan and Cameron Harper. Could Soro be set to join the trio?

While Soro has not been a big part of the team in recent months, it might be a bit too early on the part of Celtic to let him leave on a permanent basis.

He had put in some tremendous performances when he first broke into the Celtic first-team, under the management of Lennon, and it is safe to say that he has a lot of potential. Also, it is easy to forget that he is still just 23 years of age and has a lot of room for development.
