Celtic have rejected chance to transfer struggling defender

There are quite a few players at Celtic who have failed to make a mark in Ange Postecoglou’s first-team this season. And the club have already made quite a few moves in January to adjust their squad accordingly. As a result, Ewan Henderson has already completed a move to Hibernian on loan, and he will sign permanently in the summer. But there is one player that the club have turned down transfer approaches for.

The player in question is Osaze Urhoghide, who arrived from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer. In fact, he was the first arrival of the Postecoglou era.

And while he might have come in with a lot of expectations, the defender, who is capable of playing as a centre-back and a full-back, has struggled to break into the first-team picture at Celtic.

He had to wait until December to make his club debut, against Real Betis in the Europa League. Impressively, he was one of Celtic’s best performers on the night. And it appears that the club have no intention of letting him leave on a permanent basis.

Celtic have turned down transfer approaches for Urhoghide

As reported by The Scotsman, it is thought that Celtic have turned away any approaches to sign Urhoghide on a permanent basis. They are believed to be open to letting him leave on loan in January though.

That might be the right step for the player at this point of time as well, as it looks unlikely that he will getting regular playing time at Celtic anytime in the near future. Liam Shaw has already been loaned out to Motherwell.

On the other hand, the stint away on loan at a club where he will play regular football will give him the chance to develop and improve. Clubs in both Scotland and England are believed to be interested in the youngster.
