Celtic: 3 things the Hoops still need to do in January

Celtic have enjoyed a spectacular start to their January transfer window, having already signed the likes of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. All three have been linked with the club for a long time but even then, not many would have expected the Hoops to move this swiftly and get deals over the line this early on.

But that does not mean that there is nothing more to do in the January transfer window for Celtic. In fact, there is quite a bit.

They still need to focus on strengthening in certain positions of weakness if they are to put up a sustainable title challenge against the Rangers this season.

But at the same time, they might need to let some players leave as well, in order make things easier for themselves. It remains to be seen how things turn out but it could certainly get interesting to say the least.

Let some of the struggling players leave

There are quite a few players at Celtic right now who could do with a move away from Parkhead. Vasilis Barkas and Albian Ajeti are two great examples.

The duo arrived with a lot of expectations in the summer of 2020 but neither of them has been able to make their mark in the first-team. And as a result, a transfer exit might be the best path forward for both the club and the player.

On the other hand, Boli Bolingoli is another player who has barely featured this season despite Celtic not having a regular left-back. And Ismaila Soro finds himself down the pecking order as well.

Thus, it would be ideal if Celtic are able to find some of their struggling players new clubs in January.
