Celtic ready to let four first-team players leave in January

Celtic already dropped a transfer bombshell earlier by announcing the triple signing of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi. While all three had been heavily linked with the Hoops recently and the moves in itself did not come as a surprise, the timing certainly did as we are still in December. It is safe to say that this is a massive boost for Ange Postecoglou’s side and shows how serious the club are about challenging for the Premiership title this season.

Celtic’s biggest weakness has certainly been their lack of depth and these three additions are expected to go a long way in helping with that problem.

It remains to be seen if the Hoops end up making any more signings this month. There could be outgoings though.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are open to deals for Vasilis Barkas, Boli Bolingoli and Albian Ajeti. Ismaila Soro could also be allowed to leave after falling down the pecking order.

Barkas, Bolingoli, Ajeti and Soro are all first-team players, but they have not been able to make their mark at Celtic.

Ajeti and Barkas were the club’s big signings from the 2020 summer transfer window but it is safe to say that neither of them has been able to make the impact that Celtic would have hoped for when they signed the duo.

On the other hand, Bolingoli was brought in the summer of 2019, as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney, who left for Arsenal. The Belgian has not been able to do that though and two-and-a-half seasons on, it feels unlikely that he will become Celtic’s starting left-back any time soon.

On the other hand, Soro had shown some flashes of brilliance last season but has struggled for form for quite a while now.
