Ange Postecoglou gives worrying Celtic squad update

Celtic have only one game left to be played, against St Johnstone, before heading into the winter break. And after dropping a couple of points against St Mirren in their previous game, it is safe to say that the Hoops need to win this one. The gap between them and the Rangers is already six points, which is significant considering how tight the title race has looked in recent weeks.

The biggest problem for Celtic right now though is the lack of options. It is no secret that they did not have a lot of depth in their squad to begin with and a series of injuries in recent times has left Postecoglou scrambling for options.

The fact that he brought on Josip Juranovic, Greg Taylor and Liam Shaw, when chasing a goal against St Mirren, just goes on to show the difficult situation that they find themselves in. And it looks like the team might be pretty similar against St Johnstone as well.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while speaking with Sky Sports, the Celtic manager said:

“It’s unlikely with the short turnaround. We might get one or two but at this stage, it will be a similar sort of team that went out on Wednesday night.”

Postecoglou provides worrying Celtic squad update

It is safe to say that the situation is far from ideal for the Hoops, with half the season already played out and the title race heating up.

The recent results have also meant that it is very important for them to get a positive result against the Rangers in the remaining Glasgow Derbies this season.

Of course, for that to happen, Postecoglou will have to bring an end to their recent streak of not being able to beat their crosstown rivals. In fact, the last time Celtic beat the Rangers was back in the 2019/20 campaign. It has been a while to say the least.

Hopefully, they will be able to pull off a win or two against them this season. Otherwise, they have a mountain to climb in the Premiership.
