Celtic are back to trophy winning ways. After dominating Scottish football for almost a decade, it was a shock when the club could not even win a single piece of silverware last season. But they brought their drought to an end last night, as they won the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian. And one man who deserves immense credit for that is the club’s Japanese superstar, Kyogo Furuhashi.

Kyogo’s fitness status was a topic of heavy discussion heading into the final. He had picked up a hamstring injury against Real Betis in the Europa League, just earlier in the month.

Kyogo was back in the starting XI against Hibernian though and proved himself to be the man for the big occasion, scoring a wonderful brace, as Celtic sealed a 2-1 victory and lifted the Scottish League Cup.

Even more impressive than the brace was the quality of both the goals. The finishes were excellent and Chris Sutton even compared them to a certain Henrik Larsson, as he tweeted out:

Kyogo finished wonderfully past the Hibernian goalkeeper for the equaliser, after taking a beautiful touch to bring a long ball under his control.

The second one was even better though as the Japanese superstar lobbed the goalkeeper to hand Celtic the Scottish League Cup title. And it is safe to say that Larsson was not the only one comparing those finishes to The King of Kings.

Kyogo has been an absolute standout for Celtic ever since arriving in the summer from Vissel Kobe. It has been nothing short of a transfer masterstroke on the part of the club and Ange Postecoglou to bring him in.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals for the club already. And the last two were the most important out of those.
