Celtic’s Ange Postecoglou explains Giovanni van Bronckhorst meeting

Ange Postecoglou has done a brilliant job since arriving at Celtic in the summer, steadying the ship and getting them back to winning ways despite having not have a deep squad. The Hoops will face Hibernian in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday at Hampden Park, in what will the manager’s opportunity to win his first piece of silverware for a European club.

On the other hand, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has done a decent job at Ibrox till now as well. The Rangers were looking out of form earlier in the season but since his arrival, they appear to be back on track. Thus, with both the Glasgow giants looking the part this time around, this title race could go right down to the wire.

Amidst all this, not many people would have expected the two managers to be picture together. But that is exactly what happened recently as the Celtic manager was photographed with his Rangers counterpart as well as the Ibrox sporting director, Ross Wilson, at a cafe.

It appears that it was not arranged though and was a chance meeting instead. As reported by The Scotsman, the Celtic manager said:

“Well, let me try and explain. Husband has morning off and goes for breakfast with his wife in his favourite establishment, bumps into colleague and has a chat. How’s that?!”

Celtic and the Rangers appear to be in a tight title race

Neither Celtic nor the Rangers have dropped a single point since October. And although the Ibrox side have a four point lead in the league table right now, the Hoops have the chance to give themselves a massive boost by winning the League Cup on Sunday.

Of course, that is easier said than done considering the fact that Hibernian are expected to be a very tough side to beat.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out in the final. After that though, a Glasgow Derby against the Rangers is also scheduled to be played at the turn of the year on January 2.
