Celtic transfer rumour rubbished by Fabrizio Romano

Celtic have been linked with quite a few players from all across the world over the past several weeks as they are expected to their squad considerably in the January transfer window. While the club have done quite well since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou and are set to play in the Scottish League Cup final against Hibernian on Sunday, there is no doubt that squad depth has been their Achilles’ heel this season till now.

Even right now, the club have several top stars missing like Kyogo, Jota and James Forrest, and it is safe to say that they are not in the best shape heading into the big game on Sunday.

Celtic need to strengthen all over the pitch and midfield is an area that might need particular attention. In that regard, one player that they have been linked with for a long time is Bodo/Glimt’s Patrick Berg. Interestingly, the Hoops are set to face the Norwegian champions in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

But as tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Berg is set to join Ligue 1 side Lens despite the Celtic and Galatasaray rumours.

Berg set to join Lens despite the Celtic transfer rumours

Berg has been one of the standout players in the Norwegian League for quite some time now and has been linked with a move away from Bodo/Glimt for a while.

And he appears to have finally gotten it, as he will be joining Lens in Ligue 1. The French side have done very well over the past couple of seasons. They finished 7th in the league last time around and currently sit at 6th.

Berg had the potential to be a very good signing for Celtic but it was not to be. The Hoops are still expected to add to their midfield this January though and are believed to be closing in on moves for Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.
