Journalist makes worrying claim about Celtic player

Karamoko Dembele has been one of the most highly-rated youngsters at Celtic for a long time. But he has never quite managed to break into the first-team picture on a consistent basis. It did feel like though that that was starting to change. He scored his first senior goal for the club in May of this year and was featuring for them in pre-season following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as well.

But an injury suffered in a pre-season friendly against Bristol City and has been out of action since. He has even had to undergo surgery on his ankle.

There does not even appear to be a timeline on his return. And it remains to be seen when he does eventually make his return to the pitch. It could be a long time away though.

As reported by Transfer Tavern, speaking in a Q&A on The Athletic, Kieran Devlin said regarding Dembele’s situation:

“Think it was a break in the end so could be a long time, no set date on a return.”

The Celtic youngster could be out of action for a long time

It is safe to say that while coming through the youth ranks at Celtic, Dembele was one of the most highly rated talents in the world and was wanted by several top European clubs. He ended up staying at Parkhead though.

Things have not quite worked out for him till now when it comes to breaking into the senior team and in that regard, his injury could not have come at a worse time.

There was a feeling that he was getting closer to the first-team and with James Forrest and Mikey Johnston suffering one injury after the other, he could have gotten significant time on the pitch this season. It was not to be though and now it remains to be seen when he does return. It needs to be pointed out that his current deal is believed to run out next summer.
