Celtic could pull off €1 million transfer masterstroke

Celtic are expected to make quite a few moves this January when the transfer window reopens. If one thing has become clear in Ange Postecoglou’s first few months as the club’s manager, it is that they need to add more depth. When they have had their best players available, they have done very well. But that has not been often as injuries have followed them throughout the course of the campaign.

It is believed that Celtic are eyeing a triple deal in January. And one of the players that they have been linked with is Gamba Osaka midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi.

Midfield is an area that the Hoops need to improve in thus it should come as a surprise that the club could be looking to make a signing there. The Ideguchi rumours have come a bit out of the blue though and are very interesting.

Ideguchi has already had a stint in Europe, when he joined Leeds United a few years back but it is safe to say that it did not work out for the Japanese star. He did not make a single appearance for them, spent a couple of loan spells away in Germany and Spain, and eventually returned to Japan.

Signing Ideguchi could be a transfer masterstroke for Celtic

The best thing about a potential move for Ideguchi is that it is believed that a €1 million transfer fee would be enough to sign him. Thus, there is not a lot of risk involved even if it does not work out.

On the other hand, a few years back, Ideguchi was one of the most highly rated talents in all of Japan and had broken into their national team at a young age. His move to Leeds United stalled his development though.

Postecoglou has a brilliant knowledge of J1 League players though, having spent several years managing in Japan. And Ideguchi could definitely add a lot to this Celtic side.

He is not afraid of making a tackle, and his passing is solid as well, as he keeps it solid in defensive midfield. His standout quality is arguably his ball interception. And he is not afraid to take a shot from distance either, and has a penchant for scoring some spectacular goals. Thus, he could bring something very different to this Celtic side.
