Josip Juranovic declares Celtic teammate ‘little Messi’

It is safe to say that Celtic do not have the deepest squads right now and as a result, a lot of players have had to step in recent times, especially with the number of injuries that they have at the moment. One star has certainly done that over the past few weeks, and throughout the course of this season to be honest, and he has been declared as ‘little Messi’ by Josip Juranovic.

That man is none other than Tom Rogic. A little over a year back, it had looked like the Australian’s Celtic career was over and he was headed out of the club. A proposed transfer exit did not happen though and it was fortunate for the Hoops.

Rogic has been incredible ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as the club’s manager and his form has been one of the biggest reasons why the club have not missed Ryan Christie as much as was first feared.

It is safe to say that he has impressed not only the fans but his own teammates as well. As reported Fox Sports, Juranovic said about Rogic:

“For me he is little Messi!” said the Croatian international. “He’s a bit taller than the original but there’s only one big Messi, he can be the little one! He’s so good. He’s one of the best players I have played with at club level. He’s in top form this season and that can only be good for us.”

It is safe to say that Juranovic will know his midfielders, as he plays with the likes of Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Marcelo Brozovic and many other world-class players for the Croatia national team.

And some of Rogic’s performances this season have been world-class to say the least. For example, his recent goal against Dundee United was Messi-esque to say the least as he dribbled past four defenders before placing the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

There would have been fears that Rogic might not be able to rediscover his form following his recent injury but they have appeared to be misplaced, as the Australian has returned and probably looked even better.
