Celtic major boost as injured star returns to training

Celtic have a lot of injury worries right now. The club have been handed several problems since the start of December, with Jota, Anthony Ralston, Stephen Welsh, James Forrest, Kyogo and Albian Ajeti all picking up injuries this month already. Fortunately for them, the Scottish centre-back is already back in action and he could soon be joined by another of the club’s stars, in what is a major boost for Ange Postecoglou.

It is no secret that Celtic do not have a very deep squad. As a result, there are many players who have had to play constant football this season without much scope for rest. Combine that with the heavy schedule and the Hoops’ intense style of football, and the injuries should not come as a huge surprise.

One player who has almost unexpectedly become a big part of the starting XI this season is Anthony Ralston, nailing down the right-back spot in Postecoglou’s side.

And as reported by the Daily Record, Ralston is back in training. There is no doubt that this would be a massive boost for Celtic.

Ralston returns to training in massive boost for Celtic

Not only as Ralston improved at the back, but according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in 27 appearances in this campaign.

If fit enough, one would expect Ralston to go straight back into the team while Josip Juranovic could return to left-back.

During Ralston’s injury, Celtic might have found another option for right-back though, in the form of Osaze Urhoghide. The youngster was the first signing of the Postecoglou era but has struggled to break into the first-team.

He made his debut against Real Betis at midweek but ended up putting in an inspired performance and caught the eye of many. And Urhoghide might very well have earned himself more minutes on the pitch moving forward with his display.
