Celtic: 3 ways Ange Postecoglou can replace Kyogo

Ange Postecoglou made a mistake when he brought on Kyogo in Celtic’s final Europa League group stage game against Real Betis. There was nothing riding on the result on the game. But with the Japanese star picking up an injury that could keep him out for a while, the Hoops have been handed a major blow going into one of the most important parts of their season.

It had looked like Kyogo was going to get the night off as he was named on the bench against Real Betis. But after Albian Ajeti had to be substituted off with an injury in the first half itself, the manager decided to get bring Japanese star on as his replacement.

There is no doubt that that turned out to be the wrong decision. Kyogo picked up what looked like a hamstring injury and was forced off the pitch in the second half.

The injury could not have come at a worse possible time with the Scottish League Cup final just a little over a week away and the Glasgow Derby not far away either.

It was Henderson who replaced Kyogo, when he came off in the second half. And remarkably, he scored with his first touch of the game, in what turned out to be an important goal in their 3-2 win over Real Betis.

Now, Henderson is not known as a striker or has been a prolific scorer till now. But with the lack of options at Parkhead, it might be worth giving Henderson another run up top and see if he can repeat the trick once again.

The 21-year-old has not featured much for the Celtic senior team till now but this could potentially prove to be his big chance.
