Celtic are eyeing a move for £8.1 million Bundesliga star

Celtic might be going through a good run of form, but this squad still needs a lot of strengthening if they are to make sustainable title challenge. We just saw Jota, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh pick up injuries in the same match against Hearts. And it means that Ange Postecoglou will have very limited options to pick his team for over the coming weeks, which is an even bigger worry in the month of December.

One area that they Hoops could do with a few more options in is the middle of the park. One could argue that Celtic never replaced Ryan Christie and Olivier Ntcham, bothy of whom left last summer.

Tom Rogic has become an important part of Postecoglou’s first-team plans but he has had his fair share of injury problems. And it looks like Celtic might have an £8.1 million Bundesliga star in their sights.

As reported by BILD (via Daily Record), Celtic are among a number of clubs tracking Borussia Monchengladbach’s Hannes Wolf before the winter window. It is believed that despite signing him for a transfer fee believed to be around £8.1 million in the summer, the Bundesliga club are ready to let the attacking midfielder leave on loan until the end of the season.

Celtic linked with January loan move for Wolf

Wolf was an absolute standout during his time with Red Bull Salzburg, showing his ability to both score and assist on a consistent basis even as a teenager.

He has not been able to recapture that form though since arriving in Germany. But the Austrian is still 22 years of age and there is no question about his talent or potential.

A move for Wolf could make a lot of sense for Celtic. We have already seen Postecoglou get the best out of a struggling wonderkid in Jota. But there is expected to be a lot of competition for the Borussia Monchengladbach star’s signature in January.
