Celtic vs Aberdeen: 3 things we learned from huge win

Celtic got three huge points against Aberdeen, with Jota and Callum McGregor finding the back of the net. With the Rangers getting a win earlier, it was important for Ange Postecoglou’s side to do the same in order to keep up the pressure in the Scottish Premiership title race and they did exactly that. It was not a sensational performance from the Hoops but they are starting to show the ability to get it done on a consistent basis.

Jota opened the scoring on the day, continuing his incredible run of form since joining the Hoops in the summer.

Aberdeen would equalise through Lewis Ferguson from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute, leaving Celtic will a lot to do in the second half.

And fortunately, the Hoops managed to do just enough with the captain scoring at the hour mark and winning all three points for his side.

Because of the role that he plays in this team, it is often easy to miss McGregor’s impact on the football match. He is one of those players that you miss the most when he is not playing, as many would have learned when he spent time on the sidelines earlier in the season through injury.

The Celtic captain’s fingerprints where clear throughout this match though. It was his assist which set up Jota for the opener and then he took matters into his own hands, by scoring the winner in the second half.

While the likes of Kyogo and Jota might be getting most of the headlines at this point of time, there is no doubt about the fact that McGregor is equally important to Ange Postecoglou’s side.
