Celtic: 3 key players who need to step up vs Bayer Leverkusen

Celtic have a mountain to climb when they face Bayer Leverkusen away in Germany in their Europa League group stage game. The reverse fixture was won by the German team in convincing fashion, with a 4-0 win at Parkhead. This time around, a lot is riding on the result of this game and it could end up deciding the fate of the group.

If Celtic end up losing against Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis defeat Ferencvaros in the other game, then the Hoops cannot finish higher than third in the group.

Fortunately for Ange Postecoglou’s side, they have European football to look forward to, beyond the Europa League group stage. Whether it will be in this competition or the Europa Conference League remains to be seen but it is a huge positive for the Hoops regardless.

Now, it remains to be seen what happens in the game against Bayer Leverkusen and Celtic will definitely be looking for a result. For that to happen though, there are certain players who will need to step up to the plate.

Kyogo has been nothing short of brilliant ever since arriving at Celtic in the summer from Vissel Kobe.

The Japanese star has been the club’s main source of goals this season and if they are to get a result away in Germany against one of the best teams in the Bundesliga in the form of Bayer Leverkusen, then they will definitely need Kyogo to be on the top of his game.

He missed a few chances in the reverse fixture but when the two sides meet in Germany, hopefully Kyogo will have his scoring boots on.
