Celtic: 3 biggest needs in the January transfer window

We are still early on in the campaign and there is a long way to go, but it does feel like this Celtic team is ready to make a title challenge with a few more additions in the January transfer window. The Rangers have not looked great in recent times and it remains to be seen what kind of an effect Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s arrival has on them. But the Hoops are on a great run at the moment and look like the in-form team in Scotland right now.

Celtic have won eight of their previous nine games across all competitions and drawn the other one. And while there is still room for improvement, that can be viewed as a massive positive as well.

They are not at their peak and still getting some good results. And with a few more additions, they can be even better.

The January transfer window provides them a huge opportunity to make those required additions.

Sign another goalscorer

When the club signed Giorgos Giakoumakis in the summer, they would have been hoping that they were solving their problems in front of goal. After all, the Greek striker had topped the Eredivisie scoring charts last season and by some margin.

Unfortunately, he has found neither his scoring boots nor his fitness this season till now. While he has had a couple of promising cameos and scored once, overall, Giakoumakis has not provided a lot to write home about.

And with Albian Ajeti being linked with a January exit, Celtic could definitely do with another goalscorer in their squad. At the end of the day, you can’t always rely on Kyogo to find the back of the net.
