Celtic have already found long-term Joe Hart replacement

When Joe Hart arrived at Celtic from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, there were a lot of questions surrounding the move. After all, the Englishman had not been a regular starter for a club for years at that point of time and at 34 years of age, was believed to be past his prime as a footballer. Considering that, the doubts were understandable but it is safe to say that the goalkeeper has been nothing short of brilliant over the last few months.

Last season, Celtic did not have a clear first-choice goalkeeper, with Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard all getting runs in the first-team but none of them managed to make the position their own. There is no question about the man between the posts now though.

But at 34 years of age, Hart is not a long-term solution for the club and they will have to make a change in the not too distant future. And it looks like the Hoops already have their eyes on a long-term replacement for Hart.

As reported by The Athletic (via 67 Hail Hail), there’s an exciting future ahead for 18-year-old Tobi Oluwayemi, who is winning approval from key Celtic staff and players. Hart looks set to mentor him, with the youngster being lined up as his long-term replacement.

Celtic appear to have found Hart’s long-term replacement

While Oluwayemi might be impressing people around the club at the moment, it is important to remember that he is still just 18 years of age and things can change very quickly in football. It will be interesting to see how he makes the jump to the senior level.

Oluwayemi was in the Celtic matchday squad in their recent away game against Ferencvaros, ahead of the likes of Vasilis Barkas and Conor Hazard, which is interesting to say the least.

Like Hart, he was signed from Tottenham Hotspur. And his brother, Joshua Oluwayemi, who is also a goalkeeper, is still part of the Premier League club.
