Chris Sutton fears major Celtic nightmare situation

Considering the circumstances, Celtic have done a magnificent job ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou in the summer. Despite a difficult start to the campaign, they find themselves just four points behind the Rangers in the Premiership table and have secured European football beyond the Europa League group, although that might possibly end up being in the Europa Conference League.

Whatever maybe the case, Celtic must be happy with the current situation and with the amount of work that was needed at Parkhead, one has to feel that they have done better than most people probably would have expected at the start of the campaign.

The club have one major worry though and that is regarding their squad depth. Postecoglou’s side could find themselves in trouble if a few of their top players pick up injuries, like they did earlier in the season.

Chris Sutton fears that someone like Joe Hart missing action would be a nightmare. He wrote in his column in the Daily Record:

Now I do realise it would be a nightmare if Joe Hart was missing for games. There is not adequate cover there for someone who has really impressed.

Someone like Hart would be a massive miss for Celtic

When Celtic signed Hart in the summer from Tottenham Hotspur, there were a lot of questions surrounding the goalkeeper and perhaps rightfully so. After all, he had not played regular football for a while.

But Hart has come in and shined between the posts for Celtic. Not only has he made big saves and impressed with his performances. But he has also proven to be a leader and brought stability in goal for the Hoops that was not there last season. He might not be the long-term solution between the posts, but he is certainly the solution that the club needed now.

It is safe to say that he has quickly become one of the most important players in Postecoglou’s side and him missing action would be a major worry for the Hoops at this stage.
