Celtic handed massive boost by latest Rangers news

Despite us being in the middle of an international break, it has been an eventful day in Scottish football and Celtic’s Premiership chances appear to have been handed a massive boost despite not doing anything themselves. As most would already know, Steven Gerrard has departed the Rangers in order to become the new Aston Villa manager but that is not the only change happening at Ibrox.

The Rangers do have a four point lead over Celtic at this point of time, but things could definitely get very interesting moving forward.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are very much the team in form at the moment, having won seven and drawn one of their previous eight games across all competitions. On the other hand, the Rangers had not looked very convincing in recent times.

And not only have they lost their manager but most of their backroom staff as well. Jo Hendry tweeted out:

Celtic handed massive boost as Rangers have to make huge changes

Not many would have expected Gerrard to depart Ibrox at this point of the season. And it is safe to say that the Rangers will now to make big chances at the club. The international break gives them some time, but it is going to be difficult to say the least.

It remains to be seen what kind of an effect Gerrard’s departure has on the Rangers, but it is safe to say that it potentially provides Celtic will a huge opportunity to not only cut down the gap between the two clubs but possibly even take a lead of their own.

It would be important for Postecoglou’s side though to not look at what is going on elsewhere and continue doing what they have been doing over the past month or so. If they can keep performing like they have in recent times, they will be challenging for the Scottish Premiership title, no matter who the next manager of the Rangers is.
