3 big signings Celtic are being linked with for January

This January promises to be one of the most exciting in recent memory for Celtic. The club have already made tremendous progress ever since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager and now, his squad is expected to be strengthened further in the upcoming winter transfer window, as the Hoops aim to make a Scottish Premiership title challenge.

Most of the recent rumours that have surrounded Scottish football is regarding Steven Gerrard and his potential move to become the Aston Villa manager.

And if that does happen, it would certainly have an effect on the Scottish Premiership title race and Celtic consequently. But Postecoglou’s side cannot have their eyes on that. Their sole focus must be on improving further, like they have over the past month or so.

January provides them a great opportunity to do that and it must be said that they are being linked with some very exciting signings in recent times.

Reo Hatate is one of the most interesting players that Celtic have been linked with in recent times. The one thing that stands out about the Japanese star immediately is his incredible versatility.

Hatate is mostly recognised as a midfielder, but he can play on both wings as well as in both full-back positions if the situation calls for it. In fact, he has played mostly as a left-back in recent times for back-to-back J1 League champions Kawasaki Frontale.

Hatate has been one of the most highly-rated players in the J1 League for a while now and it is not surprising that Celtic have been linked with a potential move for him. If they did sign him though, one would expect him to feature in the midfield, one area that the Hoops definitely need to strengthen in.
